Found
Animals found and brought to JCHS may be reclaimed by the original owner within the first 7 days of being brought its facility. After 7 days, ownership of the animal will pass to Jefferson County Humane Society and the animal may be made available for adoption. A running at large fee plus any other applicable fees will be assessed to the owner to reclaim the animal.
Running at large fee:
- $30 - 1st offense
- $40 - 2nd offense
- $50 - 3rd offense
Boarding Fee:
- $10/day until reclaimed
Spay/Neuter DEposit:
- $50 per animal (Applies only to animal redemptions/ reclaim of lost animals. A $100 spay/neuter deposit is required for animal
*Deposit can be refunded it proof of spay/neuter is given within 30 days of surgery.
Rabies Vaccination Deposit:
- $10 per animal
*Proof of current rabies vaccine is required for all animals at the time of reclaim. A Rabies Vaccination Deposit will be assessed if the animal is not currently vaccinated.

*Due to the lack of funding for animal control resources in Jefferson County, it is possible your animal was taken to Tallahassee's Animal Service Center or the Thomasville Humane Society. Please, check with them, too, if you are unable to locate your animal locally.
