About UsJefferson County Humane Society (JCHS) is a select intake, (No aggressive dogs ) non-profit animal shelter in Monticello, FL. JCHS receives no government funding and operates solely on donations and fundraising. As a result, funds and space are limited. We strive to take in as many animals as we can while also maintaining a high level of animal health and wellness. We do not take in aggressive dogs.

Wag the Dog Thrift & Treasure Shop, is located in downtown Monticello. HOURS: TUE - SAT 10am - 4 pm The thrift store helps support and care for the animals at Wolf Creek, and is under the direction of Jefferson County Humane Society. We are fortunate to have a community who supports us with their donations. Come visit and shop anytime you are in the area to support our animals. Treasures change daily. EPIC Pups Program: A highlight of 2024 The second week of April wrapped up the graduation of the 1st Epic Pups Program class. This program serves as partnership between the Jefferson Correctional Institution and Wolf Creek Pet Adoption Center, in which the pups who participated spent sixteen weeks learning essential obedience skills and socialization through the hard work and dedication of their trainers. The first year of this program led to the adoption of four amazing dogs from our very own Wolf Creek Pet Adoption Center!
